چکیده

In the context of an integrated pilot study between the HafenCity University Hamburg, the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg and the Agency for Geo-Information and Surveying Hamburg the Bismarck monument in Hamburg has been scanned with the Z+F IMAGER 5006 3D laser scanning system to generate a virtual 3D model of the monument from the laser scanning data using different programs. A substantial aspect for modelling was data reduction, since the generated 3D model has to be integrated into the city model of Hamburg with the smallest possible data volume. Therefore a combination of triangle meshing and CAD turned out to be an optimal solution. Furthermore, the extent to which the modelled data can be reduced by appropriate polygon decimation, in order to derive a geometrically correct and visually attractive result (virtual 3D model), has been investigated. The geometrical quality of the model was evaluated on the basis of reference values. As well as the integration of the virtual model into the city model of Hamburg the generated virtual model was also prepared for interactive visualisations. For the entire processing of the project time management of the individual work procedures has been calculated, in order to derive statements about the economy of the project. Thus conclusions/recommendations for further projects on object recording, modelling and visualization of such historical buildings and monuments using this procedure with this technology could be provided.

Geometric Accuracy Investigations of the Latest Terrestrial Laser Scanning Systems

Currently the second, or for some manufacturers even the third, generation of terrestrial laser scanning systems is available on the market. Although the new generation of terrestrial 3D laser scanning offers several new (geodetic) features and better performance, it is still essential to test the accuracy behaviour of the new systems for optimised use in each application. As a continuation of ...

Terrestrial Laser Scanning - A Supplementary Approach for 3D Documentation and Animation

TWhile aerial methods undesputedly form the backbone of modern photogrammetry, we have seen an increased use of terrestrial methods in the past years to supplement aerial data especially in the field of 3D city modelling and the animation thereof. This article describes an approach to use terrestrial laser scanning in order to increase detail and realism of datasets derived from arial methods. ...

A 3D Virtual model of the Gorizia downtown (Italy) by matching historical maps with aerial and terrestrial surveying techniques

This paper deals with the various aspects of the Gorizia old downtown (Italy) 3D virtual model production obtained by a suitable integration of laser and imaging data, both acquired either by means of a helicopter and a terrestrial surveying. The virtual reconstruction can be compare with different perspective maps of the city to underline its transformation. An aerial high-density (15 points/m...

Laser Scanning for Terrestrial Photogrammetry, Alternative System or Combined with Traditional System?

Traditional photogrammetric method has been a system for documentation, 3D modelling for long years. After the development of digital photogrammetrical systems, map products can be monitored in CAD platforms. Placing models in CAD had verified flexibility for getting information from model and easy editing for modelling. Terrestrial Laser Scanning Systems provide modelling of objects without sc...

Terrestrial 3d Laser Scanning – Data Acquisition and Object Modelling for Industrial As-built Documentation and Architectural Applications

In this paper the investigations of two projects using the terrestrial 3D laser scanning system "CYRAX 2500®" from Leica Geosystems are presented. The CYRAX 2500 is tested in 3D data acquisition and object modelling for industrial as-built documentation and for an architectural application. The major aspects of these investigations were the accuracy of point determination and object modelling, ...
